In Jesus Christ, God modeled for us that true leadership is servant leadership and those who want to be the greatest will be servant to all. We go to Maine to humbly serve others and to be a blessing to anyone who might be in need. All that and it’s just a bunch of fun spending a week with your APC family working side by side and sharing life for a whole week. It’s a trip that you won’t ever forget.
National Mission
Maine Mission Trip
July 16 - 23, 2011
Where:
We’ll be staying in the dorms at the University of Maine in the charming little town of Farmington.
When:
We depart from Allentown on Saturday, July 16th early in the morning. Our last day of work in Maine is Friday, July 22nd and we allow ourselves a day and a half to return to New Jersey, stopping in Massachusetts that Friday night if you would like to. Some families will drive back in one day, others will go on their own family adventure afterwards. Whatever the case may be, work ends on Friday.
What:
We’ll be doing construction work on homes. In the past we’ve done roofing, painting, building wheelchair ramps, siding, repairing porches, tearing down porches, installing windows, putting up drywall and even rebuilding an entire bathroom! Youth who are 12 years old must be accompanied by a parent on site. Younger youth will participate in vacation bible school activities.
Who:
Anyone! This is an intergenerational trip designed for the whole family. No matter your age or skill level there is a place for you on this trip. Youth who are going into High School can come on the trip without their parents but younger youth need to attend the trip with a family member.
Why:
Because in Jesus Christ, God modeled for us that true leadership is servant leadership and those who want to be the greatest will be servant to all. We go to Maine to humbly serve others and to be a blessing to anyone who might be in need. All that and it’s just a bunch of fun spending a week with your APC family working side by side and sharing life for a whole week. It’s a trip that you won’t ever forget.
